Abe & Jess • 062219 by Kelly McCormick

A few months ago a close friend of mine, Abe, had asked if he could hire me to take photos at his 30th Birthday party, being such a milestone. I immediately agreed and noted it down in my calendar. I spent the first couple of hours at the party, taking photos of people playing games with one another, of Abe with his family and it seemed to be a pretty laid back kind of shoot.

Little did I know what was to come. As Abe went to make his speech, thanking everyone for coming, he dropped a bombshell on all of us as he reached into his back pocket in a surprise proposal to his girlfriend, Jess. Both Abe and Jess welcomed me with warm open arms when I moved to Boston and have been a huge support to both my relationship and my photography. So naturally, I was totally honoured that Abe thought to ask me to capture this moment (though it was as much of a shock to me too). These are some of my favourite images of that particular part of the day.

Boston Pride 2019 by Kelly McCormick

Pride is something I hold very close to me. I’ve known I was gay since I was in my teens, I’ve been dating the love of my life for the last six years and we’ve been married for almost a year. Last year was the first year we were able to attend Boston Pride together, as it was just after I had moved out to the states to be with her permanently, and this year was the first year we attended as a married couple.

I decided to take my camera along with me to the parade this year to capture some of the wonderful people (and dogs) I would be sharing such a beautiful celebration with. These are some of my favourite shots from the entire day #LoveWins.
